Born in Musquodoboit Harbour, NS and raised in Fort McMurray, AB, Patricia completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge with a focus in performance and stage makeup. After moving back to Halifax to be closer to family and pursue a creative career, Patricia started at Stanhope and Company Hair Studio, mentoring with the 2-time Canadian Screen Award nominated makeup artist, Amanda O’Leary. Known for her work on The Book of Negroes, Shadowhunters, Mr. D, Trailer Park Boys, and Outlander, Amanda was an inspiration and asset to launching Patricia’s career.

From there Patricia assisted in the launch and development of FRED Salon where she also worked as the makeup artist. After a brief move to Calgary, working as the makeup artist for Quorra, Patricia received her esthetics license in 2010, earning top awards for practical, theory, most rebooks and most requested. Continuing her education in the beauty industry increased her training in makeup and ability to create great skin for her clients.

“I love the full-service experience I can give my clients, particularly my brides or TV personalities. I provide brows, facials, and manicure and pedicure services, as well as makeup for big events, or everyday upkeep.”

Patricia has a wealth of experience working for numerous freelance weddings, photoshoots, and print ads. She also had the privilege to work on the major motion picture Outlander and the Canadian short film Dirty Laundry. Her experience at different salons and spas include the Esthetic Room, bringing Youngblood makeup to the spa, as well as for The Summit Spa, where she received extensive Jane Iredale training. Over the 6 years at The Summit Spa, Patricia not only worked as an esthetician, but as Event Coordinator, putting together numerous cosmetic and makeup events, and group makeup lessons and seminars.

Most recently, Patricia was the makeup artist to Alyse Hand from Global News Morning for her new promotional material as well as makeup lessons for her personal application of on-air makeup. She was also the makeup artist for Sarah Ritchie, Global News Evening anchor for her most recent promotional material.

Now, Patricia is a mom of two, Winter, 3 and Japer, 1, leading her to look for work that is more on her own terms.  This led to her finding the perfect job at this stage in her career – mentoring and teaching students just starting their path in the makeup industry at the Hair Design Centre. This enabled her to create balance between her own freelance work and esthetic studio.

“What I love about the curriculum of the makeup program at HDC is the foundation it will give you to start your career. With a focus on beauty makeup, you will easily be able to step out and start working in many areas, from retail work, bridal, salon and spa and more right after graduation. However, it touches on so many other aspects of makeup, from SPFX, Drag, Avante Garde and Editorial, that you will have the chance to explore and learn and go forward with more specialized training in the future with the groundwork you need to launch you forward in your chosen specialty.“
