Ally Roache

Admissions Coordinator

Ally comes to HDC with a background in the beauty industry, human resources and psychology. She considers herself a people person and enjoys creating connections with people in every day life. She thrives on positivity and loves watching people grow personally and professionally and will do anything she can to help foster your growth.

While Ally is a people person, she is also a homebody and you can find her cozied up on the couch watching cheesy horror movies. Her hidden talents consist of extreme handiness and knowing the lyrics to most 90’s pop songs. She believes that if you want anything in life you have to do it yourself – you can’t rely on others for your own happiness and success!

Suzanne Reid

Front Desk Coordinator

Suzanne has been in the beauty industry for 20 years, the hair industry for 10 years and managed two salons. She is also a graduate from HDC.

Suzanne got into the industry because she wanted to give back to people who weren’t able to do for themselves, lift them up and put a smile on their face. Now she’s come full circle working at the school she graduated from to give back to our students.

When she’s not at the school she’s walking trails and trying new recipes.

Shari Fitzner

Lead Hair Educator

Shari brings 20+ years of experience in the beauty industry and is a proud graduate of the Hair Design Centre. Shari has been educating students for 12 years and is passionate about education and the ever-changing industry. She believes keeping yourself educated in this industry keeps you inspired and competitive. 

As a Redken Certified Colorist, Shari enjoys passing along her knowledge and watching students grow into successful stylists, salon owners, or platform Artists.

Shari’s message to all her students is “The Sky is the Limit…. So, Dream Big ” 

Pam Collier

Hair Design Educator

As a passionate educator with 25+ years in the industry, Pam has worked as a Stylist, Salon Leader, and Platform Artist. While Pam is experienced and skilled across the board, her favourite service to provide and teach is hair extensions.

Pam attended the Redken International Symposium in Las Vegas, which is one of her most fond professional memories. She also includes the HDC graduations as some of her favourite moments—she loves watching her students grow their skills. Outside of hair design, Pam loves Harry Potter, cotton candy, and her metal detector. 

Chris MacKenzie

Hair Design Educator

With a passion for producing outstanding colour and texture, Chris shares his aptitude for hair styling with the HDC students as a Hair Educator. Chris graduated from Concepts School of Cosmetology in 2005, and will never forget when he started working as a Stylist, earning commission for the first time.

Chris is motivated by those special “ah-ha” teaching moments, helping students understand a concept they’re struggling with. Chris has the (self-proclaimed) voice of an angel, and loves cooking, traveling, and watching his favourite movies—anything scary, or the classic, He’s Just Not That Into You.

Ann Watkins

Hair Design Educator

Ann’s experience, passion, and commitment to continual learning are what make her a phenomenal teacher at the HDC. Ann is a Master Stylist who has worked in Redken and Aveda salons since graduating from the HDC in 2005. Her portfolio includes impressive milestones such as completing a Specialty Style Updo Design Course in Los Angeles, CA, and a feature in Duly Noted magazine.

Ann’s philosophy is that hair plays a major role in any person’s image, and she prides herself in helping students create versatile, beautiful looks that clients can style and maintain themselves.

Rebecca Graham

Hair Design Educator

Feeling like university wasn’t for her, and with an interest for fashion Rebecca made the decision to choose a career in Hair Design. Starting in 2008, she became passionate for hair and the impact she had to help others feel good about themselves. Early on she became dedicated to education knowing that there was always more room to grow. She dove in and worked on photo shoots, fashion shows, brides and was always looking for a new experience.
In 2016 an opportunity arose to combine a passion for learning and helping others as an Educator.
When Rebecca isn’t helping grow students she is busy being a mom, trying new recipes, singing Billie Holiday and exploring Skyrim.

Wilma Broussard

Hair Design Educator

Wilma graduated from Nova Scotia Community College in Port Hawkesbury in 1986 as a General Cosmetologist. Her passion for this industry started at 11 years of age; from this point: this was her career direction.

Wilma’s philosophy is to continuously be open to learning new and current trends. She loves to work with the hair’s natural texture for ease and maintenance for the clients, which she translates to the students to learn also.

Over Wilma’s 28 years in the industry; she has trained in Matrix, Aveda and Redken. Her passions are in Bridal, Prom Up-do’s and Long Hair Design. She has had the pleasure of training with Martin Parsons in his Long Hair Design Certification in 2012. Wilma has also obtained numerous techniques while attending the Redken Symposium in 2011.

Wilma loves spending time with her family and pets. She also loves to explore the Maritimes and have mini Master Chef Competitions among her friends and family. She is a proud hockey mom and enjoys playing co-ed baseball.

Courtney Lively

Hair Design Educator

As a graduate from HDC herself, Courtney has over 7 years experience in the hair industry under her belt. Her passion for being a stylist stems from her love of helping people feel beautiful on the inside and out, now with being an instructor at HDC she can help shape the future of the stylists coming into the industry to follow the same passion she has.

Courtney specializes in blondes and different foiling techniques. You can find her dancing, singing and showing the students how to keep the work environment fun and up-beat!

Lisa Todd

Lead Esthetics Educator

Lisa’s experience in the beauty industry ranges from esthetics, to inventory, and now education with the HDC. Lisa is an expert in waxing, clinical esthetics, and also worked as an Inventory Manager for Maritime Beauty Supply. Her vast expertise and passion for teaching make her a versatile educator.

In her spare time, Lisa is involved with animal rescue and loves to cook. Her favourite food is pasta, and you’ll catch her chowing down while watching her favourite movie, Eat, Pray, Love.

Renee O’Brien

Lead Spa Educator

Renee’s passion for making people feel beautiful from the inside out has led her to a career in cosmetology. She’s a graduate of Concepts School of Cosmetology and has worked in the industry for 12+ years.

Renee draws inspiration from her peers at SRG and loves to share her passion and knowledge with them, too. Renee will never forget the first HDC graduation ceremony she attended—she loves to watch her students succeed and grow. Writing music is another one of Renee’s talents. She also enjoys eating Indian food and watching her favourite movie, Patch Adams.

Tammy MacIntyre

Esthetics Educator

With 20+ years experience in the beauty industry, Tammy was first attracted to the culture that this industry has to offer. Tammy has Advanced Footcare Training, is an expert waxer with extensive Dermalogica training and draws inspiration everyday from the students “ah-ha” moments, when something finally “clicks it sticks”.

Melanie Murphy

Esthetics Educator

Melanie is a Master Educator offering 12 years of advanced skincare working in Jasper, AB, Australia and currently at Vitality Medi Spa for the last seven years. With a passion to educate and help the upcoming generations develop their passion for the esthetics field. Has a passion for foot care,waxing, and loves spending time with family and friends while cooking for them.

Sandra Hopkie

Esthetics Educator

Sandra has been an Esthetician for 17 years now and has the same passion today for esthetics as she did 17 years ago. After working for one year in a salon, Sandra opened her own esthetics spa – and it is still successful to this day!
Sandra graduated from Dalhousie University in 1993 with a degree in Sociology. After a couple of years working with the Department of Social Work, she knew that it wasn’t the career she wanted. It was then – when she was 28 years old that she went to Concepts School of Cosmetology to pursue a career in Esthetics.
After she graduated she went on to do more educational courses like furthering her knowledge of skincare by taking courses through the Dermal Institute of Canada.
Sandra always knew that someday she would love to teach and share her passion and experience with those who wanted to learn and be the best they could be! Sharing this experience and knowledge is truly a dream come true!

Patricia Veinotte

Lead Makeup Artistry Educator

Patricia started her path towards beauty and makeup as a performing arts student studying acting at the University of Lethbridge. Patricia’s studies in the Theatre included makeup for stage and a love of makeup was born! Over the years her makeup interest and career grew, working with some great mentors, and number of makeup lines such as MAC, Cargo, Two Faced, Paula Dorf, Jane Iredale, and Youngblood. Patricia’s work grew into many areas as a freelance makeup artist, in the bridal industry, as well as for photography and film for some major motion pictures (Outlander) as well as a short film for CBC (Dirty Laundry). As her interest and drive for the beauty industry grew, she went on and achieved her Esthetic license in 2010, continuing her career in both makeup and esthetics. Making people look and feel great about themselves is a passion of hers and is one she loves passing on and seeing her students.

While beauty makeup may be  Patricia’s focus; making people look like themselves but better!  A close second would be Halloween! Halloween is huge in her house,  and it is usually the most decorated house in the neighborhood, not to mention the fun family costumes and makeup!
