In her spare time, Lisa is involved with animal rescue and loves to cook. Her favourite food is pasta, and you’ll catch her chowing down while watching her favourite movie, Eat, Pray, Love.

Renee O’Brien

Lead Spa Educator

Renee’s passion for making people feel beautiful from the inside out has led her to a career in cosmetology. She’s a graduate of Concepts School of Cosmetology and has worked in the industry for 12+ years.

Renee draws inspiration from her peers at SRG and loves to share her passion and knowledge with them, too. Renee will never forget the first HDC graduation ceremony she attended—she loves to watch her students succeed and grow. Writing music is another one of Renee’s talents. She also enjoys eating Indian food and watching her favourite movie, Patch Adams.

April Walsh

Hair Design Educator

As a graduate of Art & Technique Academy in Ontario, April has 8+ of experience as a Stylist. Whether she’s turning a brunette into a bright blonde or chopping off someone’s long locks into a stylish pixie cut, April loves a challenge. Her favourite professional memory involves her very first colour correction on a client—never an easy feat! April loves yoga, and relaxing with a bowl of popcorn and her favorite movie, Beauty and the Beast.

Ann Watkins

Hair Design Educator

Ann’s experience, passion, and commitment to continual learning are what make her a phenomenal teacher at the HDC. Ann is a Master Stylist who has worked in Redken and Aveda salons since graduating from the HDC in 2005. Her portfolio includes impressive milestones such as completing a Specialty Style Updo Design Course in Los Angeles, CA, and a feature in Duly Noted magazine.

Ann’s philosophy is that hair plays a major role in any person’s image, and she prides herself in helping students create versatile, beautiful looks that clients can style and maintain themselves.

Pam Collier

Hair Design Educator

As a passionate educator with 25+ years in the industry, Pam has worked as a Stylist, Salon Leader, and Platform Artist. While Pam is experienced and skilled across the board, her favourite service to provide and teach is hair extensions.

Pam attended the Redken International Symposium in Las Vegas, which is one of her most fond professional memories. She also includes the HDC graduations as some of her favourite moments—she loves watching her students grow their skills. Outside of hair design, Pam loves Harry Potter, cotton candy, and her metal detector.

Tammy MacIntyre

Esthetics Educator

With 20+ years of experience in the industry, Tammy is passionate about making people feel beautiful. She’ll always remember a client who didn’t want to draw attention to their feet, and wouldn’t put polish on their toes—Tammy convinced them to go red, and they’ve been doing a red polish on their toes for the past 14 years! These moments are what drive Tammy to refine her skills and make clients feel comfortable.

Tammy loves to have fun in the classroom and laughs when she thinks about her first year of teaching when she was convinced everyone’s name was Andrea for the first few weeks. Tammy loves to read and drink tea when she’s not in the classroom.

Chris MacKenzie

Hair Design Educator

With a passion for producing outstanding colour and texture, Chris shares his aptitude for hair styling with the HDC students as a Hair Educator. Chris graduated from Concepts School of Cosmetology in 2005, and will never forget when he started working as a Stylist, earning commission for the first time.

Chris is motivated by those special “ah-ha” teaching moments, helping students understand a concept they’re struggling with. Chris has the (self-proclaimed) voice of an angel, and loves cooking, traveling, and watching his favourite movies—anything scary, or the classic, He’s Just Not That Into You.

Melanie Murphy

Esthetics Educator

Ample education and over a decade working as an Esthetician has brought Melanie Murphy to the HDC. Melanie graduated from NSCC with a diploma in Esthetics & Spa Therapy, and since then, has been trained in LCN, Dermalogica, dermaplaning, and ear and nose piercing. She spent six of her salon years as a Master Esthetician.

Manicures and other nail services are some of her favourites to provide—but she especially loves helping clients reap the benefits of a great facial. Unveiling the results of a skin care service is exciting to her, as she loves to help clients gain confidence. When Melanie isn’t teaching, you’ll find her eating her favourite food, cheesecake, or enjoying the cottage life with yoga, gardening, and knitting.

Leah Harris

Esthetics Educator

Leah is a graduate of The Academy of Cosmetology and has 7+ years of experience in the industry, specializing in clinical esthetics. Leah loves to focus on clinical esthetics, as her industry passion is treating clients with problematic skin and helping them work through their skin issues. She also has certification in lash extensions and laser treatment.

Leah has amazing memories from team building moments at SRG Summits, and loves to do yoga, eat Thai food, and read (her favourite book is The Alchemist).
