This story is a testament to Trudy’s commitment to teaching students to learn from their mistakes and to never stop developing their skills. Trudy loves to stay active with cross-country skiing and hiking, and you can catch her watching her favorite James Bond movies (she prefers the classics!)

Coming from cosmetic retail, her passion for product and customer service shows in her daily work as HDC’s Salon Leader. She is a ball of energy and keeps her coworkers motivated with positive thinking and really lame jokes.

When Raven is away from the front desk at HDC, she spends her down time catching local music shows, enjoying craft beer and emptying her bank account on expensive lipstick and false lashes.

Tammy MacIntyre

Esthetics Educator

With 20+ years of experience in the industry, Tammy is passionate about making people feel beautiful. She’ll always remember a client who didn’t want to draw attention to their feet, and wouldn’t put polish on their toes—Tammy convinced them to go red, and they’ve been doing a red polish on their toes for the past 14 years! These moments are what drive Tammy to refine her skills and make clients feel comfortable.

Tammy loves to have fun in the classroom and laughs when she thinks about her first year of teaching when she was convinced everyone’s name was Andrea for the first few weeks. Tammy loves to read and drink tea when she’s not in the classroom.

Melanie Murphy

Esthetics Educator

Ample education and over a decade working as an Esthetician has brought Melanie Murphy to the HDC. Melanie graduated from NSCC with a diploma in Esthetics & Spa Therapy, and since then, has been trained in LCN, Dermalogica, dermaplaning, and ear and nose piercing. She spent six of her salon years as a Master Esthetician.

Manicures and other nail services are some of her favourites to provide—but she especially loves helping clients reap the benefits of a great facial. Unveiling the results of a skin care service is exciting to her, as she loves to help clients gain confidence. When Melanie isn’t teaching, you’ll find her eating her favourite food, cheesecake, or enjoying the cottage life with yoga, gardening, and knitting.
